Centre for Forensic Science

Jury Research Group

We are pursuing several projects with special permission of the Attorney General of Western Australia.

The three main areas of focus are:

  • Juries and Expert Evidence: an examination of the way in which jurors deal with forensic evidence, and the implications for lawyers and forensic practitioners.
  • The Jury Experience: a wide ranging quantitative and qualitative study of the experiences of a large group (~1000) of modern WA jurors. This project aims to provide a substantial insight into the experiences of jurors through interviews. It is anticipated that the findings will assist policy-makers to improve the jury system.

We welcome enquiries from law, psychology and forensic science honours and postgraduate students interested in becoming part of this exciting research.
